Why We Love MotoCamp Wales

Some evenings, Cadair Idris catches the last of the sun while the camping pod settles into the quiet of our grounds. It’s a view we never tire of.

We’re Steph and the MotoCamp Wales / Moto Junkies team, and this place means a lot to us. Here are a few of the things we love about calling our 18-acre corner of southern Snowdonia home.

OUR LITTLE CORNER OF THE VALLEY

Aerial view of MotoCamp Wales and the surrounding valley

From above, you can see our 18 scenic acres tucked into the valley.

We love the sense of space here. There’s room to arrive, take a breath and enjoy the outdoors, with Dolgellau within walking distance and Cadair Idris right beside us. You can spend the day out exploring and come back to open skies and green fields.

Sunrise behind the big oak tree, with a tent pitched below

Early light, a tent under the oak, and the valley waking up.

We love the peaceful start to the day just as much as the busy evenings. Some guests are up and off early; others take their time over a cup of tea, listening to the birds and watching the light move across the grounds.

Tents, campervans and motorhomes in the open camping field

Our open field brings tents, campervans and motorhomes together beneath big skies.

We have limited camping pitches, and we love seeing the variety of ways people make themselves at home here. Solo explorers, families, riders and friends all share the same patch of open field, each with their own kind of adventure ahead.

Double rainbow over MotoCamp Wales after rain

The rain passes, the rainbow appears, and we all stop to look.

The Welsh weather is part of life here. We love the bright, unexpected moments it brings, and the way a shared view can turn into a conversation between neighbours.

BIKES, LODGES AND A GOOD SOFA

Adventure bikes parked outside the MotoCamp Wales lodges

Bikes lined up outside the lodges are a familiar sight on a meet weekend.

We love seeing the gravel in front of the lodges fill with bikes when guests come together for a biker meet. There’s a particular buzz to those arrivals: helmets come off, stories start, and the next ride quickly becomes part of the conversation.

Cosy lodge interior with an elephant tapestry and a big sofa

One of our homely lodge interiors, complete with a big sofa and elephant tapestry.

After a day outside, it’s good to have somewhere cosy to put your feet up. We love that our lodges feel homely rather than formal, with space to relax, share a meal and settle in together. Dogs are welcome in the lodges too.

Cosy green camping pod at MotoCamp Wales

Our green camping pods offer a cosy place to call home for your stay.

The pods have their own character, tucked into the grounds with the landscape close by. They’re another way to enjoy a stay at MotoCamp, whether you’re here for mountain days, miles on the bike or a slower break outdoors. You can see the options on our accommodation page.

THE FIRE BRINGS US TOGETHER

Golden hour over the valley grounds, with the fire pit in the foreground

The fire pit waits for the evening as golden light settles over the grounds.

The campfire is one of the things we love most. People gather after a day out, warm up, share a drink and swap stories. You don’t need to arrive knowing anyone. There’s always room to join the conversation, or simply sit back and enjoy the flames.

Guests and a dog in the communal corner, with photos of past visitors on the wall

Guests, a four-legged friend and a wall full of memories from visitors past.

We love the way a place gathers its own stories. The photos on the wall are a reminder of the people who have spent time here, and of the friendships and good moments that make MotoCamp feel like a community, not just a stop for the night.

Rhonda’s Bar under the covered shelter, lit with string lights

Rhonda’s Bar brings everyone together beneath the covered shelter.

Rhonda’s Bar, the covered bar and our stretch tent are at the heart of many a good evening. They give everyone a place to come together, whatever the weather is doing. We love seeing hikers, cyclists, bikers, overlanders and families all sharing the same space.

Three friends arm-in-arm at Rhonda’s Bar

Good company at Rhonda’s Bar: that’s what it’s all about.

Some of our favourite moments are the simple ones: friends leaning in for a photo, another round of stories, and that feeling of being right where you want to be. We’re proud of the welcome our guests help create for one another.

SHARING FOOD, MARKING MOMENTS

A 50th birthday celebration with a food spread and live music

A birthday gathering in our covered communal barn, with food to share and live music.

We love being part of celebrations. Birthdays, family get-togethers and group events bring their own energy to the site, and the covered communal barn gives people space to eat, laugh and celebrate together.

Alfresco dinner at the MotoCamp Wales picnic tables

An outdoor meal shared around the picnic tables.

There’s something special about eating outdoors with everyone gathered around the tables. We love the relaxed feel of communal meals: plates being passed around, people catching up, and no hurry to leave once dinner is done.

Resident rooster patrolling the picnic area

Our resident rooster keeps an eye on the picnic area.

And then there are the chickens. They’re free-range around the site, and our resident rooster has a habit of patrolling the picnic tables as if he has important business to attend to. It’s one of those little details that makes us smile.

A PLACE FOR ALL KINDS OF ADVENTURE

We love that our guests come from all walks of life. Some arrive on bikes, some on foot, some by pedal power, and some with a whole family ready to explore. The TET and Coed y Brenin are both 10 minutes away, while Cadair Idris is right here beside us. There’s a map room and enhanced workshop for riders, and our Zero Motorcycles Experience Centre brings another way to get out and ride.

A couple relaxing by the fire pit

One last pause by the fire before the evening draws in.

And when the day’s adventure is done, we love that there’s no single way to spend the evening. You can join the campfire, settle in with a book, bring your dog over for a wander, or just take in the quiet of the grounds.

We’re proud of the place we’ve built and, even more, of the community that makes it what it is. Come and see why we love MotoCamp Wales: book a stay, bring the dog, join a biker meet or celebrate something special with us.
