You’re mid-adventure, the North Wales wind is in your face, and the track ahead looks spectacular. Whether you’re grinding through the gears on a mountain bike or pacing yourself on a long-distance trek, there comes a point where you just need a solid place to drop your gear, grab a hot shower, and crash for the night.
At MotoCamp Wales, we sit right on the pulse of the wild. If you’re tackling the Traws Eryri or walking the iconic Snowdonia Way, you don’t even have to detour to find us: these world-class routes pass right by our front door. We’ve set up our 18-acre site specifically for people like you: adventurers who need flexibility, comfort, and a welcoming vibe without the fuss of multi-night minimum stays.
TRAWS ERYRI: THE ULTIMATE OFF-ROAD CROSSING
Traws Eryri is the heavy hitter of Welsh mountain biking. This 200km multi-day route takes you from Machynlleth all the way to Conwy, cutting right through the heart of the Eryri National Park. It’s a beast of a trail, packed with chunky climbs, technical descents, and views that make every drop of sweat worth it.
Because we are located right on the route, we’ve become a staple for riders looking for a reliable dolgellau campsite that actually understands what a muddy bike and a tired rider need. You won’t find any "three-night minimum" rules here during the peak of your crossing. We know that when you’re bike-packing, you’re on the move. We offer single-night camping spaces and pods so you can roll in, recharge, and roll out the next morning ready for the next stage.
The section passing through our locality is particularly striking. You’ve got the rugged beauty of the Mawddach estuary and the looming presence of Cader Idris right over your shoulder. It’s the perfect place to break up the journey, especially if you’ve just hauled yourself over the high ridges and need a bit of a "civilized" breather before hitting the next trail.

THE SNOWDONIA WAY: A WALKER’S PARADISE
If you prefer two boots to two wheels, the Snowdonia Way is likely on your bucket list. It’s the only long-distance walking trail that traverses the full length of the National Park. Whether you’re sticking to the main valley-bottom route or taking the high-level mountain alternative, the path brings you directly into our neck of the woods.
Walking 97 miles (or 110 if you’re doing the high peaks) requires some serious logistics. Finding a biker friendly campsite that also welcomes hikers with open arms makes your planning a whole lot easier. We see tons of hikers coming through who are looking for more than just a patch of grass. They want a bit of community, a spectacular view of the mountains they’re about to climb, and a host who knows the local terrain.
Our site at the foot of the Cader Idris mountain range serves as a natural waypoint. You can check out our things to do page to see exactly how close we are to the local trailheads and the town of Dolgellau. Staying with us means you’re within walking distance of local pubs and shops, but far enough out to enjoy the peace of the Welsh countryside.
SINGLE NIGHT STAYS FOR THE MODERN ADVENTURER
One of the biggest headaches when planning a through-hike or a bike-packing trip is the "minimum stay" policy at many holiday parks. We’ve ditched that. We know that adventure tourism is about movement.
We offer dedicated spaces for single-night stays, whether you’re pitching a lightweight tent or looking for the upgraded comfort of our camping pods. Our pods are a game-changer for those traveling light. If the Welsh weather decides to turn (as it often does), swapping a soggy tent for a dry, insulated pod is the best decision you’ll make all trip. It gives you a chance to dry out your gear and get a proper night’s sleep without the hassle of a full setup and pack-down in the rain.
You can view all our accommodation options online to see what suits your style. From the simplicity of a grass pitch to the relative luxury of our lodges (lodges have a minimum 2 nights I'm afraid), we’ve got your back.

THE BEST BIKER FRIENDLY CAMPSITE IN NORTH WALES
While we welcome everyone, there’s a reason "Moto" is in our name. We are a premier biker friendly campsite, designed by people who ride for people who ride. This translates perfectly to cyclists on the Traws Eryri as well.
What does "biker friendly" actually mean? It means we have hardstanding areas so your side stand won't sink into the mud. It means we have space for you to tinker with your machine and a vibe that is purely about the love of the road and the trail. We’ve got 18 acres of space, so you’re never crammed in. You can enjoy the bird song, look up at the stars, and chat with fellow overlanders about the best lines to take on the North Wales tracks.
Our facilities are built to handle the grit of outdoor life. Clean showers, plenty of space, and a layout that respects your need for a bit of quiet after a long day in the saddle. We even have an Africa Lodge for those who want a communal feel with a bit more of a roof over their heads.
EXPLORING DOLGELLAU AND CADER IDRIS
Even if you’re just passing through on the Snowdonia Way, it’s worth taking a moment to appreciate where you are. Dolgellau is a historic dark-stone town with a character all its own. As a top-tier dolgellau campsite, we’re perfectly positioned to give you the best of both worlds: wild mountain access and town convenience.
If you have a bit of extra time or a rest day planned, Cader Idris is literally on our doorstep. It’s one of the most iconic peaks in Wales, offering a slightly more rugged and less crowded experience than Snowdon. Many of our guests use us as a base camp to tackle the Minffordd Path or the Pony Path before continuing their journey along the Snowdonia Way.
The road and trail networks surrounding us are world-class. Whether you're into athletics or looking for special activities, the Mawddach area is a playground.

WHY CHOOSE CAMPING IN WALES WITH US?
Camping in Wales is an experience unlike any other, but it can be unpredictable. You need a site that’s flexible and understands the needs of adventure tourists. We aren't a massive, soul-less holiday park. We’re a haven for people who love the outdoors.
When you stay at MotoCamp Wales, you’re staying at a place that values the journey as much as the destination. We’ve hosted everyone from solo cyclists on the Traws Eryri to groups of hikers completing the Snowdonia Way. The feedback is always the same: they love the proximity to the trails and the fact that they don't have to worry about the logistics of a short stay.
If you’re looking for campsites in Dolgellau that offer that perfect mix of "wild" and "well-equipped," you’ve found it. We are proud to be a part of the local adventure tourism community, and we’re always happy to share our knowledge of the local trails.
PREPPING FOR YOUR PITSTOP
Before you head out on your next big Welsh mission, here are a few tips for staying with us:
Book Ahead for Pods: While we love a spontaneous traveler, our pods are popular, especially during the peak Traws Eryri season. Check our booking services to secure your spot.
Travel Light: We have the essentials, so don't feel like you need to overpack.
Check the Weather: Eryri is beautiful but moody. Our pods provide that extra layer of protection if the forecast looks "character building."
Ask Us Anything: Not sure about a particular section of the trail? Want to know where the best pint in Dolgellau is? Just ask. We’re here to help you make the most of your trip.
